The annual July 4th Celebration is located at the Hill & Hollow grounds at Powell.
We appreciate friends, neighbors, and members for their support.

This has always been a good occasion for visiting, eating great food, and riding down
to the Historic Bridge on a hayride.

The crowd enjoyed listening to the awesome music provided by the Rusty Plow Band.

Bob and Tudy Brumley really put on a beautiful array of fireworks in spectacular

GREAT Construction News!!!

                                                   GREAT Construction News!!!

On March 18, the County Commissioners, Lehman Construction, Spencer Jones, the engineer
from Great River and several of the PHPS representatives meet for the Pre-Construction Conference for the new Powell Bridge.  Lehman Construction will begin construction on the new bridge in
June of this year!! Yea!! This is something that we have all been working towards and waiting for.
The PHPS has been very busy making plans to begin the rehab of the Historic Walking Bridge
as soon as the new bridge is completed and open to traffic. We have a detailed list of priorities to work through, starting with the safety of the children. We are also working with NRCS to stablilze the stream bank around the main center pier to keep it from eroding.
When the time comes (and it will shortly) we will need volunteers to help the PHPS work on the bridge and help with the needed supplies. Be a part of history in helping to get the Grand "Ole" Lady at Powell ready for her second life as a beautiful pedestriam bridge!
Keep in mind that our funding comes from annual memberships, donations and our fundraisers. We will not have our Spring Silent Auction this year, but you will be able to see progress on the new bridge during the hayyrides at our 4th of July Celebration.

Powell Bridge News

Great News For New Powell Bridge

It has come to our attention that MoDOT representative, Julie Zeibert,
has sent the final packet of paperwork for approval. It will take approximately
two weeks for this process of review to be completed. At that time the chosen construction
company for the new Powell Bridge, Lehman Construction Company, which
is located at California, Mo., will be able to begin their construction process.
